Larry Niven è un autore americano altamente stimato, noto soprattutto per il suo contributo al genere della science fiction. Nato a Los Angeles, California, il 30 aprile 1938, Niven sviluppò precocemente un interesse per la science fiction, che lo portò a studiare matematica e psicologia alla Washburn University e al California Institute of Technology.
