Hugh Howey è un autore americano di successo, noto principalmente per i suoi romanzi di fantascienza. È l'autore della serie Wool/Silo e della serie Molly Fyde/Bern Saga. Howey è nato nel 1975 e cresciuto a Monroe, nella Carolina del Nord. Ha sviluppato una passione per le navi e la lettura fin da giovane, trascorrendo le sue estati nella casa al mare di famiglia in North Carolina. La sua passione per il mare e l'avventura lo ha ispirato a sognare di diventare un writer e circumnavigare il mondo. Oltre alla sua scrittura, Howey è anche un appassionato fotografo e vive a Jupiter, in Florida, con sua moglie Amber e il loro cane Bella.
