Neil S. Plakcy è un autore affermato degli Stati Uniti, specializzato in mystery, romance, thriller e romanzi gay & lesbian. È particolarmente noto per la sua serie Mahu Investigations e la serie di misteri Golden Retriever. Plakcy è nato a Trenton, New Jersey, e ha completato i suoi studi all'Università della Pennsylvania con una laurea in scrittura creativa. Durante il suo periodo all'università, ha conosciuto i famosi romanzi Carlos Fuentes e Philip Roth. Successivamente, si è iscritto alla Columbia University e si è laureato presso la sua scuola di business con un MBA in gestione immobiliare e operazioni. Dopo aver lavorato per una società di sviluppo di giochi, Plakcy ha avuto l'opportunità di studiare per un MFA in scrittura creativa mentre lavorava come produttore in South Florida. Plakcy è un amante degli animali e ha scritto la serie di misteri Golden Retriever, ispirata dai suoi stessi golden retriever, Samwise, Brody e Griffin. Gli piace scrivere mystery cosy così come mystery gay, M/M romance e gay erotica. Il primo romanzo pubblicato di Plakcy è stato Mahu, che presenta un detective di omicidi di Honolulu di nome Kimo Kanapa'aka. Plakcy ha messo molto di sé in Kimo e ha scritto su di lui per molti anni. Plakcy attualmente risiede a Hollywood, in Florida, con il suo partner e i loro golden retriever.
