Tessa Gratton è una autrice molto apprezzata, nata a Okinawa, in Giappone, nel 1980. È cresciuta nelle basi militari in giro per il mondo a causa della carriera del padre nella Marina degli Stati Uniti. Gratton si è in seguito stabilita negli Stati Uniti, dove ha perseguito l'istruzione superiore all'Università del Kansas, laureandosi con una laurea in Studi di Genere nel 2003.
Gratton si è imposta come autrice di spicco nel genere Science Fiction e Fantasy (SFF) per adulti e giovani adulti. Il suo lavoro è stato ampiamente riconosciuto e apprezzato, con diverse opere, tra romanzi e racconti, tradotte in 22 lingue. Due dei suoi lavori degni di nota sono stati nominati per il Premio Otherwise e molti sono stati selezionati per il Junior Library Guild.
